On this day in 1810, Mexico declared its independence from Spain after 300 years of Spanish rule. On the morning of this date priest Father Miguel Hidalgo took the town of Dolores to make his famous "El Grito de Dolores" speech about taking up against the Spanish Government. Thousands of Indians and mestizos flocked to Hidalgo’s banner of the Virgin of Guadalupe, and soon the peasant army was on the march to Mexico City. Every year Mexico celebrates its independence in this day, the tradition is carried with the standing Mexican president rings a bell and repeats a cry of patriotism from the balcony of he National Palace upon a crowd in the Plaza de Constitution; the worlds largest public plaza.  🇲🇽🐍🐦 . . . #ThisDayinHistory    #today #todayinhistory #thisday #history #historyfacts #historia #historylesson #historygeek #historyteacher #historynerd #mexico #mexico 🇲🇽 #independenceday #independencia #freedom
